Today I’m doing a quick tutorial on how to submit a supplemental claim online. You used to only be able to do this through fax or mail and now the new option to do it online exists, so I’m going to do a quick run through with you guys.
There's a few things that you're going to need to take care of before you can start this process. An ID.me account is one of those things, so if you don't already have an ID.me account I’m going to link a video below on how to get that process done. You're also going to want to have your paperwork all ready to go.
You're going to start off with either your supplemental claim form which is VA form 20-0-995. The higher level review (HLR) form is VA form 20-0-996.
The first thing you're going to do is sign in to either eBenefits or VA.gov. I’m going to go ahead and sign in using my ID.me account.
Now that I’m logged into VA.gov, I’m going to go over to “access VA.” As you can see I’m already logged in with ID.me here. Next you're going to go to “I am a veteran” and then go to “direct upload.”
Once you're logged into the centralized mail portal, you're going go through step one, step two, and then step three is where you attach all of your documents. So for supplemental claims, you'll want to attach your supplemental evidence and your supplemental claim form. For higher level reviews, you'll want to upload your higher level review form so you'll hit browse and upload your documents. Once you have all of your documents selected you'll go to the top of the screen to submit.
You should get a confirmation of your submission.
Now go to my uploads. You should be able to search and find your uploads here.
Here is my upload from today evidence received and I have my information here. Now what you'll want to do is a few days after submission, go back to VA.gov and then check your claim or appeal status and it should be showing up in your appeals.
If you have any questions, please feel free to start a new discussion below! Thank you!
