My Top 5 Pain Relief Tools - Chronic Pain / Fibromyalgia

Updated: Jun 19

So there I was… scrolling through my Amazon orders trying to find a link from a recent purchase to share with a friend when I realized just HOW many purchases I have made over the years in the search for pain relief. My curiosity got the best of me, so I did a deep dive and scoured my order history to bring to you my personal arsenal of pain relief tools and recommendations. My top 5 favorites!

I’ve bought items that have done wonders, a few that helped some.. or at least temporarily.. and a few that of course didn’t do a damn thing! I am here to share my personal experience with my purchases and tell you which I believe are the most beneficial for people in similar situations dealing with chronic pain and health issues.

1.      Muscle Massage Gun – Handheld Percussion – Deep Tissue

I have actually bought 2 versions of massage guns, and I can attest that the cheaper versions do not work as well. This one helped me break up some large knots in my shoulder blades with the help of a partner. The only downfall I found is that it is hard to apply pressure from some angles, so it helps if you have someone to assist. The exchangeable attachments are great to help you get into all the different areas and different pressures. It also comes with a carrying case for the attachments which makes it even more convenient for travel.

2.      Acupressure mat and Pillow

This may look like an ancient torture device, but I promise if you can tolerate it or at least get used to it, it is worth the initial pain! You may need to work your way up to bare skin, but to me it is the best way to utilize the mat to its full potential. This gives you a warm tingling sensation, and made my muscles and knots feel like they were melting into the mat (in a good way!)

3.      Trigger Point Massage Cane

This gadget is one of my favorites because it hurts so good!! (If you suffer from chronic muscle knots, you know what I mean) It has multiple shapes/sizes of knobs and ends to hit different areas and trigger points. My VA physical therapist recommended this is well, and has done wonders for my ability to alleviate my pressure points without assistance.

4.       Rose Quartz Gua Sha Stones and Oil

You may have seen this recently on Tik-Tok as an anti-aging technique for your face, but it does so much more than that! This helps to both increase blood flow & circulation to treat muscle knots and tension, but it also flushes out the lymphatic system. I suggest watching some YouTube tutorials on the correct techniques, but this is an easy “on the go” or “in the purse” item for me.

5.      Lacrosse Balls – (Spiky also available) For Myofascial Release

A lacrosse ball is going to provide a bit more pressure and resistance than your average tennis ball that many suggest for trigger point and myofascial release. These are approximately the same size, but without the fuzz and more firm! Use these against a wall for your back etc., or on the floor to apply pressure to feet, glutes etc.

  1. KT Tape

KT Tape is essential for physical therapy and joint protection during recovery from sports and other orthopedic injuries.
